Jumong, The Legendary Prince

         Jumong was the founder of Goguryeo in 37 BC. He was the son of General Hae Mo Su and Lady Yoo Hwa, and was raised by King Geum Wa who took him and his mother in when Hae Mo Su was believed to have been killed in an ambush by the Han Dynasty. Soh Suh No was a merchant's daughter who helped Jumong in realizing his dream to build a new country, and later became his second wife.

       A love story about Princess Nak-rang who fell in love with a spy from Goguryeo. She tore the drums of her country so that Goguryeo could attack her country, Nangnang-guk, without warning. However, Nak-rang's love story with Hodong is further complicated due to the fact that Nak-rang's older sister Ja Myung is in love with Hodong as well. 

        Prince Hodong is the 1st son of the 3rd king of Goguryeo King Daemusin and the princess of Buyeo.  Hodong deeply respects his parents and country. However, he faces a tragic end while procrastinating between his love for a woman and that for his country.
      Daemusin He was born as Prince Muhyul, the third son of King Yuri, and was thus a grandson of Jumong. He was made crown prince in the year 14, at the age of 11, and became king upon his father's death four years later. He was buried in Daesuchonwon. Daemusin was the father of the fifth King of Goguryeo, Mobon

       Sodongyo is said to be one of Korea's oldest folk songs. The song was written by Sodong, a commoner from the Paekche Kingdom. Hearing that Princess Sonhwa, a daughter of King Chinpyong of the Silla Kingdom was beautiful, he writes a song saying that the princess visits Sodong's room every night and spreads the song around. When her father hears the song, he condemns the princess to exile. Sodong picks her up and takes her to Paekche, and they become the royal couple of the country.

The story is based on a true story about a legendary girl (Jang-Geum) who became the first woman to be the supreme royal physician of her times. Despite her poor condition as a low class girl in the male dominated society, Jang-Geum overcame a series of social discrimination and landed herself as a royal cook, later becoming the royal physician, then ultimately the physician in charge of the king. She was even given by the king the title "The Great Jang-Geum".

       A historical drama about the life of Dae Jo-yeong the founder of the kingdom of Balhae after destruction of Goguryeo by Tang. The drama begins during a war between and before Dae Joyeong is born as son of   general Dae Jungsang. When is born, a prophecy says that he will become a king. The Supreme Commander Yeon Gaesomun, wishes to kill the baby but kill only his mother at General Yang Manchun that tell him that perhaps the heavens sent Dae Joyeong to protect their country after they die. Dae Joyeong is raised by Yeon Gaesomun, as a slave called Gaedong(Gae dog) so he wouldn't to discover his origin. Dae Joyeong teaches himself to read and fight. Goguryeo falls with the deaths of Yeon Gaesomun and Yang Manchun. Dae Joyeong does everything in his effort to save Goguryeo, but of some ministers, with the Tang and Khitan armies destroy it. Dae Joyeong meet at least his father and toghether builds the new Gorguryeo and names the country, Balhae. The drama ends at  Gwanggaeto Stele where Dae Joyeong prayand promises that never will their people suffer as they have in the past.

Iljimae

       Set during the Joseon Dynasty, Yong acted as a hooligan in the marketplace by day but at night he was a thief who robbed corrupted government officials to give to the poor. After each robbery he left behind a painting depicting a plum tree branch to make his mark and was thus named Iljimae. His main purpose was not so much to rob but to search for the owner of a specially designed sword which he saw as a child was used to kill his father, a loyal subject of the emperor. Eun Chae is a government official's daughter who despite her upbringing has a lot of empathy towards the poor. She met Iljimae by chance and couldn't help admiring him for what he stood for even though she had never seen his face.

       Dukman (lee yo won) was born a twin but was abandoned as a baby and sent to a place far away by her father, King Jinpyeong (park ye jin) in order to protect her from being killed by an influenced royal court lady, Mishil (ko hyeong jeong) who tries to snatch away the throne from the royal successor. Dukman was later brought back to the Silla palat.
       King Jinpyeong did not have any sons to name as a successor to his throne. Thus he named his daughter, Princess Duk Man, to be his successor. The drama will be about the life of Princess Duk Man who was later known as Queen Seon Duk, the first Queen of Silla.
